Online counselling has been found to be just as effective as face-to-face counselling. However, given that communication requires typing, it is expected that there will be some time lag in response time. In live chats you will be able to see that the counsellor is typing and we seek your patience to wait for your counsellor to finish typing before you can see his or her response on your screen. Likewise, the counsellor will be able to see you typing and will be waiting for you to finish typing before seeing your response. Our chat sessions are about 1-hour duration.
Our live chat counselling is only available Monday to Friday 9am to 6pm (except public holidays). If you would like online counselling outside of those hours, you may choose to email us instead. For email counselling, you can email us anytime and at your own convenience. We may take up to 3 working days to respond to your email.
As CPH Online Counselling is a pilot project, we would like to evaluate the demand and effectiveness of our family online counselling service. As such, we would appreciate if you could help us by completing a feedback form and some questionnaires during your online counselling journey with us.
Please note that CPH Online Counselling does not provide any emergency or crisis counselling. If you are feeling suicidal and you would like immediate assistance, please call Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) on 1800 214 4444. If you are feeling distressed and affected by the circuit breaker or Covid-19, you may call the 24/7 National Care Helpline on 6202 6868. If you feel that you may be at immediate risk of harming yourself, call 995 or approach the A&E department of your nearest hospital.
